I’m really glad to see that other people are starting emphasize the importance to understand how important it is to study counter-insurgency. I’ve done a number of reading groups over the years and have a list of texts from Galula to Hammes if you’re interested.
The good news is that almost every counterinsurgenct recognizes that it’s nearly impossible to defeat an insurgency. This is in part why the occupation can old end in scorched earth genocide.
